Two Strangers

Two strangers on opposite sides of the world, have never met. She owns an antique shop on a busy street and he has three dogs. Today a lady, very old, came into the shop asking about a ring she had lost many years ago. “It’s a simple gold ring,” she said. “But I’ll know it when I see it.” They went one by one through her cases of rings. The old lady commented on how each ring was not the ring she lost because, it’s too large, it’s to square, it’s too gold. “Mine was almost a white gold. But not that white. No, that one has a stone. What kind of stone is that?” On the other side of the world, he slept with two dogs on the end of the bed while the third dog wondered aimlessly through the apartment in search of something she had lost.
